Printmaking 2021

Week 4: Making layers

This week, I set out to make more layered pieces. I noticed I was reluctant to overlap too many layers, so I forced myself to make 5 pieces, each with 5 pressings stacked on top of each other. This definitely made it easier to add textures, but I think there is still some space that could use more texture. The next round I will do 10 (ten!) layers and we’ll see if that gets me over my fear of oversaturating the paper with texture.

I also finally got my pronto plates on Tuesday (why did blick ship so slowly?), so I can finally start working with those. I’m excited to take digital glitch-art and generative textures and remix them in the analog printmaking space.
